"Du Holde Kunst" [thou lovely Art] for solo clarinet by Michael G Miller w Jack Kartsotis clarinet Originally dedicated in 2024 to clarinetist and friend John De La Paz, Du Holde Kunst is both a summation of a musician's life's work, and also a fun celebration of clarinet gymnastics. There are 2 main theme fragments embedded in the main material, in B flat. One is by Schubert, from the song An die Musik ("du holde Kunst"), another is by Brahms ("Wie Melodien zieht es mir") - 'how melodies are carried softly by my senses' There is a 3rd hidden theme from popular culture embedded in the G flat material in contrast to the opening measures.
